Gill Boss was fascinated for a long time by glass and all the facets of this material, (in the same time dense and fragile). For more than twenty years, he has been sculpting optical glass, colored glass, sometimes crystal, granite pebbles, but also a simple glass window with which he forms blocks that he works on. Molding, gluing, cutting and polishing are his favorite techniques. His work plays with light, a field of visions sometimes shimmering and mysterious. The geometrical structure and clean lines of the optical glass pieces respond to the organic roundness of the pebbles in a silent dialogue that invites exploration and meditation. In his recent sculptures, Gilles Boss experimented mixing and contrasting materials, between glass pigments and inclusions, leaving random motifs spread in the heart of transparency.
