I was born and raised in Basel (Switzerland). I began my professional education by training as an interior decorator, and by studying music (piano). Beginning in 2002, I went to ceramic schools at home and abroad, where I acquired a thorough grounding in the design and production of ceramics. Since 2009 I have worked as an independent ceramic artist in my two studios: in Basel (creation and production) and in Liguria/Italy (primitive firing, mostly pit firing, drum firing and sawdust firing, Obvara). I produce ceramics as a form of art. Animate and inanimate nature provides me with the inspiration for the particular shapes and surface variances of my pieces. I use my wide network of contact with other ceramic artists all over the world to write articles for well known ceramics magazines. In addition I organize International symposia and act as project leader in International exhibitions and Biennales. I am a Board Member of the professional ceramics association swissceramics, where I am responsible for International connections and events.
